For example you might:

  • Use machine learning to improve our indicative prices or our SEO targeting
  • Drill down into Google Analytics and our own server logs to analyse user behaviour
  • Develop a system for measuring and reporting the accuracy of our search technology
  • Develop A/B test experiments and measure improvements to user experience, traffic and revenue

  • Optimize the accuracy and speed of our multi-modal search algorithm

Check out our company blog for an idea of what we are busy working on.

Who we’re looking for

We are looking for somebody with a PhD in Computer Science, and some software engineering experience. Skills and a passion for software development are essential – this is an applied scientist role that requires analytical and engineering skills to develop, implement, test, deploy and evaluate improvements to the product. The role can suit someone with an academic background looking to transition to industry, such as a recently completed PhD or PostDoc, if they are able to demonstrate software engineering fundamentals.

Experience with a breadth of programming languages, a broad toolkit, the ability to thrive independently and a “get stuff done” attitude are important to us. Our codebase is C# and JavaScript. You do not need to be a C# or JavaScript expert, but you need to be the type of engineer that wants to quickly learn new languages and can work within an existing codebase. An analytical, skeptical, scientific mind is essential. You will be working closely with four other engineers with Computer Science PhDs and research backgrounds.
